Jan Davidson
Founder and Group Leader
Hi, I'm Jan and I've lived in Highworth since 1984. I'm married, have 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Before having my children, I originally qualified as a Nursery Nurse (NNEB). Whilst they were growing up I was a childminder. Once they had grown up, I returned to college to study more elements of child development. Whilst at college I took volunteers out to work in the children's hospitals and orphanages in Romania. I also set up and ran a very successful youth group for young people with disabilities.
During my working life is this area, I have worked on the Special Care Baby Unit in what was Princess Margaret's Hospital , as a play therapist in both the Sadler Unit and Marlborough House before joining the NSPCC as a Children's Services Practitioner. I was with the NSPCC for 19 years before retiring two years ago.
The most enjoyable part of my work with the NSPCC was toward the end of my career when I worked with pregnant mothers (with their partners) prior to the birth of their babies.
I was looking to set up a group in Highworth straight after my retirement, however, Covid put a stop to that. So the project was paused for two years.
But - here we are - up and running! I set up Bumps to Babies as I felt there was a real need in the local community for young expectant mothers and parents of new-borns.
We look to provide a safe and happy environment for you all to meet, find any support you need and socialise. I look forward to working with you and watching you and your babies grow together.

Keith Davidson
Marketing, Membership and Social Media
Hi ! I'm Keith and Jan's other half. I have supported all of Jan's ventures over many years, being her sounding board and also "volunteering" to take care of the background mechanics of running a group such as this. I have also been a key part of her work in the youth environment and in the Romanian Orphanages.
I currently look after Membership, Marketing, Social Media, Website and Materials sourcing. (In fact anything which is vaguely I.T. related).
Your first contact with me will undoubtedly be via e-mail or Facebook, but you will also see me around the group, lending a hand wherever necessary.
I am also a professional photographer, so my skills in that department are often called upon for the group.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is a simple one. We look to provide a supportive and social environment for mothers to be and new parents. We will offer advice and support when requested and also introduce activities which are beneficial to all members of the group.
Family-Centered
Whilst the group is primarily for expectant and new mothers, we do welcome group visits from husbands and partners. Indeed these can be quite beneficial. (If you would like your husband/partner to atend a session, please let us know in advance so that we can make sure we have available space)
Quality and Safety
We want to ensure that we deliver a quality service in a safe and supportive environment. To ensure that we can achieve this aim, we will invest in relevant ongoing training and ensure that all activities have a relevant risk assessment completed.
